CNCI hails Minister Kanchana for his bold and timely decisions

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) Chairman Canisius Fernando noted that Chamber’s Executive Council hail welcomes Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera for his wise choices in serving the country at a time when it was desperately in need.

Issuing a statement, CNCI noted that they appreciate the service of the young Cabinet Minister who has demanding responsibilities in power and energy for taking bold, timely decisions and transparent initiatives. 

“We all had to undergo terrible hardships to lead normal lives because of prolonged power outages, lengthy queues for fuel, etc. The introduction of the National Fuel Pass and the availability of an uninterrupted supply of fuel and power revived the country with renewed hope. Despite these responsibilities, Minister Wijesekera’s courage to make the right choices instead of the popular ones helped to overcome the challenging times,” the statement added.

Appreciating the Minister’s continual efforts to restore stability, even at the cost of his political future, CNCI extended their support for his future endeavours.

“The Executive Council of the Chamber unanimously appreciates the untiring efforts of President Ranil Wickremesinghe for directing the country towards a recovery path whilst making decisive and bold decisions to stabilise the economy,” the statement added. 

The CNCI strongly believes that other ministers will also act with a similar passion for the sake of the country and its people.

CNCI Chairman added the Chamber is hopeful that a fair solution will be provided soon to the industrial sector to reduce the high cost of production caused by the existing electricity tariff.
