The COVID-19 pandemic did not hamper operations at Walkers Colombo Shipyard and were kept busy carrying out emergency repairs to vessels.

WASANA No. 66

 



Complying with guidelines for workplaces issued by Directorate of Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Food Safety, Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services and with the support of the Export Development Board and permission from the Modara Police, emergency repairs including rudder modification was carried out on WASANA No. 66, a 29.7 m long fishing vessel. WASANA 66 is one of 17 long-liner fishing vessels owned by Global Fisheries Ltd., a BOI registered company, and was docked at the Walkers Colombo Shipyard in Modara a few days before curfew was imposed. The rudder modification was carried out at the Walkers central workshop in Makola.
