The Institute of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka, (CPM) the premier professional management body in the country, has launched its new initiative of ‘Best Management Practices Company Awards 2022; Back to Business in the New Normal’.
The highlights of the awards are: competition will recognise novel and value-adding best management practices that have evolved from among Sri Lankan organisations in the new normal in the years 2020 and 2021; top 10 companies and sector winners will be recognised at the awards ceremony to be held on 24 February at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo; top five ‘Excellent Organisations’ will be invited to showcase their outstanding story at the CPM International Management Conference 2022 and company registrations with synopsis will be accepted up to 7 February.
‘Best Management Practices; Back to Business in the New Normal Awards 2022’ is a novel and meaningful new addition that will be featured in the CPM International Management Conference 2022. The CPM Sri Lanka strives to promote best practices in business management. The new initiative aims to share proven best practices of organisations for the years 2020 and 2021 demonstrating the feature of back-to-business resilience in the COVID-19 transition with the Sri Lankan business community to add value to Sri Lankan business organisations.
Apart from recognising novel and value-adding best management practices that have evolved from among Sri Lankan organisations, the event is also expected to fill the lacuna that prevails in the sphere of literature on best management practices in the country. This event platform also enables organisations to showcase their best management practices to the country’s business community and be duly rewarded for such worthy efforts, particularly under current tricky business and economic conditions at a global scale.
The top 10 companies will be recognised at the Awards Ceremony to be held on 24 February at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo in conjunction with the CPM International Management Conference 2022.
From the top 10 organisations, the judges will select the five ‘Excellent Organisations’ that will make presentations at the CPM Management Conference. From this, the judges will select the overall winners, who will receive the First Place Gold Award, Second Place silver Award, or Third Place Bronze Award.
In addition to the Top 10 awards, the best performers under the sectors will be awarded the ‘Sector Winners Award’ under the following sectors: 1. Banking, 2. Finance and Leasing, 3. Insurance, 4. Diversified Holdings, 5. State-Owned Enterprises/Companies, 6. Hotels and Travels, 7. Plantations, 8. Health Care, 9. Small and Medium Enterprises, 10. Chambers of Commerce/Educational Institutions, 11. Non-Governmental Organisations/Social Service Organisations/Non-Profit Organisations, 12. Power and Energy Sector, 13. Manufacturing, and 14. Other.
Adding more value to the participating companies, the top five organisations that have implemented outstanding best management practices will be shortlisted through a rigorous evaluation process and invited to make presentations during the CPM International Management Conference 2022, followed by a Q&A session.
This is open to all corporates and all organisations registered in Sri Lanka. The participating organisations are required to showcase their “best management practices”, which demonstrate resilience in bringing the organisation back to business during the year 2020 or 2021.
The best management practice presented should have been initiated within the last two years and should be ongoing or strengthened to the next level. The new approach should have given the company new thinking and may be significant to the respective industry, societal impact, or the economy. The participating organisation should approve CPM Sri Lanka in writing for data sensitivity in presenting and publishing information.
Participating organisations should send a synopsis containing 1,500-2,000 words (including appendices and references) electronically (email attachment or CD) in MS Word format. The synopsis should be submitted on or before 7 February to [email protected]
Accepted applications together with the synopsis will be scrutinised by a panel of evaluators appointed by the CPM Sri Lanka based on the criteria enumerated which are weighting 50% for desk review and 50% for panel presentation. Selected organisations are expected to make a 10 minutes-long multimedia presentation based on the factors structured and articulated in the synopsis (14-15 February).
Evaluators will not be able to visit companies due to prevailing health restrictions. Therefore, the company/organisation synopsis should be endorsed by the chairman/CEO/MD/director as true and correct (company/organisation rubber stamp/seal and signature).
