As another step by the Government to improve exports, Cabinet has approved the establishment of 5000 export production villages countrywide, with the first phase to be rolled out in the next two years.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by Primary Industries Minister Daya Gamage to establish 1000 export production villages in 300 divisional secretariats during 2018-2020 under Phase 1, and to increase the number of villages step-by-step up to 5000 export production villages under the Ministry of Social Welfare and Primary Industries, the Government Information Department said, releasing a short synopsis of Cabinet decisions yesterday.
