Cabinet nod to gazette Betting and Gaming Levy (Amendment) Bill

The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday has approved the final draft of a new Betting and Gaming Levy (Amendment) Bill to be published in the Government Gazette and thereafter be presented to the Parliament.

The move follows the Attorney General's clearance received for Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. 

On 4th July 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers approved to amend the amendment to Betting and Gaming Levy Act No. 40 of 1988.

The proposal to this effect submitted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday.
