During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka and the ensuing lockdown consumers in Sri Lanka were compelled to rely on e-commerce and digital platforms for even the most basic needs.
Although there were many existing and new sites that came up during that time, few were able to stock essentials, be user-friendly and proactive, and also deliver orders promptly. For the exceptional service rendered during the lockdown and for continuing to do so even after, Catchme.lk was recently awarded the Silver at the Best Web Awards 2020 in the e-Commerce platforms category.
The Best Web Awards are conducted by the LK Domain Registry every year and recognises websites that promote and popularise web presence in Sri Lanka.
“When we started off CatchMe back in 2012, it was more of an e-Commerce platform for electronics, gadgets and accessories that would enhance your lifestyle. Over the years we built up a loyal clientele who would always come to us for these types of products. However, during the lockdown we realised that our customers needed a reliable name to even deliver their basic groceries.
“This is when we decided to obtain the required approvals and started off with grocery delivery. One by one we added personal care products, household products, baby care items and even stationary taking in to consideration requests from our customers and the needs of the hour,” said CatchMe.lk Founding Partner Afthab Azeez.
This year there was no Gold Award in the e-Commerce Category and CatchMe.lk was recognised for several of its attributes including the ease of use, extensive product portfolio, and exceptional customer service and delivery turnaround times.
“One of the main criteria for selecting websites as winners is the user friendly and simplicity of the platform. Developed by our own in-house web developers the CatchMe website has many unique features including how we group products, the easy navigations and even the security features with build customer confidence.
“We have seen a significant increase in traffic to the site as well during recent times which goes to show that more people are looking for secure and convenient ways of doing their shopping,” said CatchMe.lk Founding Partner Siddeek Azeez.
A fully-owned subsidiary of the Katalyst Group, Catchme.lk now operates two mega stores for greater customer convenience at the One Galle Face Mall and Colombo-4. These outlets also serve as pick up points for customers who wish to place their orders online and pick up themselves.
“Catchme.lk has a lot of versatile options for our customers. Anyone who wants to shop the traditional way can visit either of our stores and be assured that all health and safety protocols are being adhered to. Customers who prefer to shop from the convenience of their home have the website which is simple, efficient and we guarantee secure delivery,” added CatchMe.lk Chief Technical Officer Damitha Ginigadarage.
