An informative seminar on import and export procedures recently conducted by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce imparted valuable insights on navigating the complex landscape of international trade to a diverse range of businesses engaged in the import and export industries.
The seminar comprised three comprehensive sessions on introductions to Customs Import and Export Procedures, as well as to the Harmonized System (HS) classification, followed by a Q&A and panel discussion.
Conducted by veterans in the relevant fields, including Senior Deputy Director of Customs C.P.G. Punchihewa, and Chandana Dharmapriya and P.Y.A.S.C. Kumarasinghe, both Deputy Directors of Customs, the seminar shared valuable insights on the intricacies of importing and exporting goods and the associated customs procedures, including key steps and documentation required. The session on HS classification shed light on the process of classifying goods according to the HS codes, ensuring accurate tariff determination and facilitating smoother customs procedures.
Attendees gained relevant insights and understanding of navigating the complexities of customs regulations, streamlining their import processes, and how the HS international standard plays a vital role in facilitating global trade.
