Ceylon Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs (CCWE) in Sri Lanka Chairperson Shirley Jayawardana recently met with the President of the Istanbul Women Entrepreneurs Council (IWEC) at their office in Istanbul, Turkey.
The main objective of the meeting was to promote and strengthen trade relations between women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka and Istanbul, Turkey. During the discussions, it was deliberated that there should be a pragmatic strategic plan to enhance economic and trade linkages between women entrepreneurs in the two nations.
Furthermore, it was discussed that there are ample opportunities for Sri Lankan women entrepreneurs to take part in international business forums organised by Istanbul Women Entrepreneurs Council. The President of IWEC informed that for the Sri Lankan young people, there are scholarships to study in Turkey.
During the meeting, CCWE was introduced to many influential international organisations to gain international support for the development of women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. Stipulating a way forward plan, CCWE will be signing an MOU with IWEC in the near future for the benefit of women entrepreneurs in the two nations.
Jayawardana, is the Immediate Past President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). She is also the Chairperson of Wisewel Lanka Ltd., an international trading company. CCWE Director, Senior Vice President of Central Province Women’s Chambers of Commerce and Small Industries Kumudini Weeresakera was associated at these meetings.
