The Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka (CCI), with the approval of Prime Minister and Minister of Urban Development & Housing Mahinda Rajapaksa, has obtained a land to build a Construction Industry Professional Centre.
The main Secretariat of the CCI will be located in this building when completed. In addition, other construction industry related organisations and companies, who wish to relocate their activities to a permanent base in an environment with adequate car parking and other facilities, can have spaces in this proposed building. This land in extent of 30P is facing D.M. Colombage Mawatha in Colombo 05. Open University of Sri Lanka is quite close to this land to its north.
On 16 November, the chamber representatives signed a 30-year lease agreement with the Urban Development Authority. Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Udaya Nanayakkara and DG Plnr. Prasad Ranaweera represented the UDA, while Eng. Maj. (Retd.) Ranjith Gunatilleke and Eng. Col. (Retd.) Nissanka N. Wijeratne represented the CCI, for the execution of the lease agreement. President Elect Archt. Jayantha Perera, and Vice President Mahanama Jayamanna witnessed from the CCI.
