Chandula among global leaders invited to Steering Group for Impact Investing meet in Japan

Around 150 global participants along with the GSG Impact National Partner Leaders From 50 countries would be gathered to gather in Kyoto from 20 to 22 May 2025 in Kyoto Japan to and for align behind shared goals, exchange knowledge and expertise, foster collaboration and collective action, enhance individual leadership through peer dialog, discover and be inspired by Japan’s vibrant impact investing ecosystem.

GSG Impact Global connects global leaders, investors, governments, regulators and social innovators – to improve their impact on society and the environment, with a great commitment to build impact economies across the globe, creating the infrastructure and incentives for capital to flow for the SDGs and climate goals. GSG Impact Global do this by creating, accrediting, and supporting national impact institutions – GSG National Partners.

Global Steering Group for Impact Investing (GSG) originated under the 2023 UK G8 Presidency. Founded by Sir Ronald Cohen who is a preeminent international philanthropist, venture capitalist, private equity investor and social innovator, is the current President of GSG Global and Nick Hurd is the GSG Impact Global and ITF Chairman. Hurd is British politician has who served as the minister for London from 2018-2019.

Chandula Abeywickrema, very respected commercial banker with the global expertise on financial inclusion, social entrepreneurship, impact investing, currently serves in number of international and Sri Lankan financial institution boards and he leads as the chairman of the boards. Chandula founded Lanka Impact Investing Network – the very first impact investing fund and the network in Sri Lanka now globally connected and engaged. With his significant engagement connection on the global frontiers on the social entrepreneurship ecosystems and impact investing landscape, first ever GSG Impact Sri Lanka was set up and become the Founder and Chairman of GSG Impact Sri Lanka and leads multiple initiatives to bring global impact funds to Sri Lanka to strengthen and build the strong and sustainable social entrepreneur ecosystem in Sri Lanka.
