The Chartered Governance Institute is the qualifying and membership body for governance professionals with a legacy over 128 years; providing professional development, guidance and thought leadership for individuals and their employers, who work with regulators and policymakers to champion high standards of governance across all sectors globally.

Organisations need good governance to be sustainable, legal and successful, not just for the benefit of shareholders, but for their stakeholders and for the good of the wider society too. Governance enables the management team and the board of directors to run their organisations effectively by providing the system of accountability, decision making and control.

In line with the mission, The Chartered Governance Institute Sri Lank Branch is focused on championing good governance and development of the value, skills and effectiveness of company secretaries and governance professionals. The branch facilitates the UK qualification for those who are interested in persevering as a Chartered Governance Professional or a Chartered Company Secretary.

Chartered Governance Institute, Sri Lanka Branch Vice President Pramith Rajapaksha stated, “Qualifying as a governance professional will distinguish corporate secretaries on possessing the knowledge and the required skills to govern in the rapidly changing corporate landscape.”

In 2019, The Chartered Governance Institute Sri Lank Branch along with BoardPAC organised a Digital Forum on the importance of ICT at organisational governance. Bentley Barsenbach further stated, “The digital forum was a success and the branch along with The Chartered Governance Institute in the UK is looking at multiple relevant and timely themed events planned for 2020.”
