Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDL) has resumed operations while adhering to strict health guidelines.
In a statement, CDL said shipyard operations resumed yesterday, giving highest focus to regulatory health guidelines in order to redeliver the ongoing projects at the earliest.
The management has taken proactive measures to carry out nearly 2,000 PCR tests of the yard team to date and positive cases are being treated, while the first contacts have been quarantined and the situation is being diligently attended to in coordination with the authorities.
CDL, being a Colombo Stock Exchange-listed and a socially-responsible corporate, has taken all possible measures to ensure the welfare of employees and their families during this COVID outbreak.
“Our team has gone to the extent of providing essential support to the relevant hospitals where our employees are being treated. An in-house task force is continuously following up on the well-being of the affected members and families,” the statement said.

In this context, the shipyard operations have kicked off on 1 November, under the health guidelines stipulated by the authorities. The ship repair and shipbuilding teams are housed in special accommodations (hotels), and those who are undergo health-screening and are cleared are shuttled to the shipyard to resume working. This process will be reviewed for any further improvements as the operation continues and numbers will be increased to meet the production requirements.
