The Colombo Stock Exchange has once again extended its support to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) by coming on board as the Strategic Partner for the eighth consecutive year to power the TAGS Awards, which honours financial and non-financial reporting among corporates.

Formerly known as the Annual Report Awards, the reconceptualised TAGS Awards which commands a history of over half a century, will this year crown the best corporates in Sri Lanka for promoting transparency, accountability, governance, and sustainability by publishing insightful and comprehensive Annual Reports.

The sponsorship cheque was presented to CA Sri Lanka President Sanjaya Bandara by Colombo Stock Exchange Chairman Dilshan Wirasekara in the presence of CA Sri Lanka Vice President Heshana Kuruppu, TAGS Awards Committee Chairman Thivanka Jayasinghe, TAGS Awards Committee Alternate Chair Chamila Cooray and Chief Executive Officer Dulani Fernando.

Extending a warm welcome to CSE as the Strategic Partner of the TAGS Awards 2022, Bandara noted that having the support of the country’s sole stock market was a reflection of the high standards of the TAGS Awards apart from an endorsement of the relevance of the competition.

Sharing his views on the partnership, Wirasekara said that CSE is pleased by the efforts made by CA Sri Lanka to champion the concepts of transparency, accountability, governance, and sustainability of both financial and non-financial disclosures in the corporate landscape of Sri Lanka.

“In a disclosures-based market such as ours, maintaining the highest standards for corporate disclosures is of paramount importance to all stakeholders, and as the ‘strategic partner’, we at the CSE are encouraged by the compliance and participation we see from small, medium, and large-scale Sri Lankan organisations,” he said.

He added that the CSE is committed to supporting the practice of good corporate reporting standards through partnerships such as with CA Sri Lanka, with the end goal of facilitating a vibrant stock market for all market participants alike.

The grand finale of the TAGS Awards 2022 will be held on 6 December, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.
