Colombo DC issues enjoining order against Laugfs’ new construction

Colombo District Court issued an enjoining order operative till 18 July against Laughs Holdings Ltd., restraining it, Laugfs Super Markets Ltd. and Laugfs Engeneering Ltd. preventing from any construction work of the new building at the site of the Supermarket Complex at Havelock Road.

Additional District Judge A.M.A. Shahabdeen issued this order in respect of the plaint filed by Christopher Rohan Martin against the Defendants.

Plaintiff, who is the Chairman of Trump Holdings Ltd. and Trump Coir Ltd. situated at Havelock Road, is a resident in the neighbourhood of the construction site.

He alleged the Defendants are engaged in the said construction work illegally and unlawfully without any proper approval either from the Colombo Municipal Council or Urban Development Authority causing public nuisance. Chandaka Jayasundera PC with Chinthaka Fernando instructed by G.G. Arulpragasam appeared for the Plaintiff.
