Investment Promotion State Minister Dilum Amunugama has launched the Ministry’s website, marking a significant step towards enhancing the investment landscape.

During the official launch event, the State Minister emphasised the need for innovative approaches to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDIs).

In his address, Amunugama noted that the challenges faced today require a fresh perspective on FDI attraction.

“We must adopt new thinking and communication strategies to remain relevant and appealing to potential investors. Our digital platform must be robust, offering seamless investor journeys with precise information. A mobile-adaptive website will serve as a valuable digital tool, enhancing the ease of doing business in Sri Lanka,” he added.

The Ministry’s website aims to provide comprehensive support to investors at a macro-level and play a pivotal role in facilitating and guiding investments, including those directed towards the Board of Investment (BOI), the Export Development Board (EDB) and Port City Colombo.

Functioning as a hub for strategic direction, the Investment Promotion Ministry will offer policy insights and strategic direction to key organisations within its purview. It will serve as the primary communication channel for both local and foreign investors, enhancing digital connectivity.

The website’s content outlines the Ministry’s objectives, commitment to high business standards, and its role as a driving force in bringing foreign exchange to the country. The Ministry’s mandate encompasses creating an enabling policy, strategy, and investor-friendly environment to streamline business operations in Sri Lanka. Moreover, it will play a guardian role, ensuring a positive investor experience while benchmarking stakeholder responsibilities related to FDIs and exports.

Further, it will act as a caretaker of investor experience when doing business in Sri Lanka, and benchmark all stakeholder responsibilities and deliverables in the context of FDIs and exports creating a “Nation Brand”. This initiative seeks to encapsulate Sri Lanka’s “Good Country image” and contribute to international efforts such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ESG framework.

Additionally, the Ministry’s website will facilitate the Industry 4.0 transition and digital FDI ecosystem by promoting upskilling and reskilling of human capital across all organisations under its jurisdiction. Serving as the primary communication tool, it will disseminate information on new legislation, and sector developments, and ensure accessibility for all stakeholders.

To uphold transparency and accountability, the website will host detailed information on tenders, transactions, appointments, and recruitments, fostering integrity in all Ministry-related activities.
