The Export Development Board (EDB), in association with the Import Promotion Desk (IPD) in Germany, initiated a series of capacity building programs for export-oriented women led businesses in Sri Lanka to encourage a new set of women-led exporters to the country’s economy.
The collaboration between EDB and IPD represents a significant step toward empowering women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka, aiming to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the global business arena.
The training program was held at EDB premises, which focused on sharing knowledge on market intelligence, EU market trends, effective sales techniques and company essentials with the presence of 19 selected export ready women-led businesses. The workshop was conducted by a team of EDB officials trained by the IPD.
Following this workshop, EDB plans to continue a hand holding capacity building programme for the women-led businesses selected for the project enabling them to enter to the EU Market.
EDB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kingsley Bernard, IPD Expert - Sourcing and Markets Natural Ingredients Angie Martinez, IPD External Consultant - Natural Ingredients Rosa Nelly Castro and IPD Local Sales Coach Amithe Gamage attended this event.
