‘Economic Policy Lessons for New Sri Lanka’ book presented to Deputy Ministers

The book titled ‘Economic Policy Lessons for New Sri Lanka’, authored by Dr. H.N. Thenuwara, was formally presented yesterday to Deputy Ministers of Finance and Economic Development in a ceremony held at the Finance Ministry. 

Dr. Thenuwara, a former Assistant Governor of the Central Bank and former Director of the Department of Economic Research, compiled the book from a series of articles he had written for local newspapers, providing insights into current trends and challenges facing Sri Lanka’s economy. 

The presentation was made to Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando and to Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma. 

The event was also attended by Member of Parliament and Attorney-at-Law Lakmali Hemachandra and the Private Secretary to the Finance Minister R.A. Dilshan Chamikara. 

It also included a cordial discussion on the prevailing economic situation in Sri Lanka and prospective measures to navigate future challenges. 

 The book is expected to serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, offering strategic perspectives and lessons drawn from past experiences to address the country’s pressing economic concerns.
