“Ella Street Food Fiesta” kicks off to cater to foreign and domestic tourists

Going parallel with the Christmas and New Year celebrations prevailing in the country, the Uva province Tourism Ministry in collaboration with the Ella Pradeshiya Sabha, has made all arrangements to host an exclusive treat for the Christmas and New Year season for locals as well as tourists, who are visiting the country for the winter season.

The “Ella Street Food Fiesta 2022” kicked off yesterday and will go on till 30 December. The event will start from 6.30 pm onwards at the Ella Railway station, which will be an interesting location and provide a new experience to the visitors.

Entertainment includes a wide variety of fun and entertainment activities along with food and beverage stalls, art and craft, textile and clothing, cultural performances, live music, DJ music, kids’ games and so much more. 

This will be a novel experience to residents in Ella area as well as both local and foreign tourists who come to visit the location. In addition to providing entertainment, the event will also provide a unique experience for the participants to enhance their perspectives of the world, and to support the growth of companies in the region, as well as gaining more local and international attention towards the area. Ella is known as an important tourism hub due to its breath-taking view and the famous nine arches bridge which has captured international recognition.

The main purpose of hosting this event is to showcase the Sri Lankan way of enjoying the season and spread the positive message about Sri Lanka being a safe and secure destination and will offer the best of travel opportunities catering to every need of the enthusiastic traveller. 

Tourist arrivals for the month of December has crossed well over 70,000, and Sri Lanka is looking forward to welcome more tourists by the end of this year. Events of this nature will give a new experience to foreign travellers of getting a glimpse of how the festive season is celebrated in Sri Lanka and enjoying the Sri Lankan culture, cuisine, handicrafts, and the Sri Lankan way of life under one roof, and creating awareness about Sri Lanka.

Several State institutions have joined hands in this effort which include the Ella Pradeshiya Sabha, Ella Divisional secretariat, partnered by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Ella Tourism and Commercial Association and Uva Tourism.
