European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka hosts National Energy Globe Award – Sri Lanka 2018

The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka hosted the National Energy Globe Award for Sri Lanka 2018 on behalf of Advantage Austria. This event was held at the Colombo Swimming Club on 30 October. 

The Energy Globe Award is one of today’s most prestigious environmental accolades, and aims to present the most successful sustainable projects to a broader audience.

This year’s Energy Globe Award recognised a project initiated by Kasun Wijesinghe (Assistant Manager, Energy Planning – Edotco Services Lanka Ltd.), titled ‘Feeding Renewable Energy Sources Seamlessly On To Telecom DC Bus’. 

This event was attended by Kasun Wijesinghe (winner of the award), his guest Ratna Prasad, Senaka Amarasinghe (Honorary Consul for Austria in Sri Lanka), Chief Guest Robert Luck (Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Austria in New Delhi, India) along with three Directors of the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ECCSL) – John Wilson, Dilipan Tyagarajah and Hans Svendsen.

The recipient of this prestigious award and the invitees present were welcomed by Dilipan Tyagarajah, Past President and Director of the Chamber, and Chairman of the ECCSL MAT Committee on Power and Energy. 

Following this, Senaka Amarasinghe addressed the gathering. Kasun Wijesinghe then presented his project which displayed the innovative thinking that led to this award. The Chief Guest Robert Luck then presented the award which preceded the end of the day’s proceedings.
