Asia’s first carbon neutral pest control company, Exterminators PLC, was successful in obtaining the globally recognised carbon neutral certification for the seventh consecutive year, further demonstrating its continuous commitment towards the environment.

The audit to measure the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the operations of the company in Sri Lanka was conducted by the Climate and Conservation Consortium (CCC) [formerly, The Carbon Consulting Company], which has been guiding the Exterminators on its sustainability journey in managing and mitigating its organisational emissions for the past seven consecutive years. This latest achievement is also a part of a larger vision of the pest control company to become a more responsible corporate citizen.

The carbon neutral certification for Exterminators PLC was awarded by the Sustainable Future Group (SFG), Sri Lanka’s only sustainability verification and certification body that is accredited to verify and validate Organisational-, Project-, and Product-level GHG emissions inventories under ISO 14064-1 & 2 and ISO 14067. Once the organisational emissions were ascertained by CCC, they facilitated the purchase of the requisite amount of internationally registered carbon credits that directly support renewable energy projects in developing countries through a global carbon registry in order to make the carbon footprint net zero, the process of which was verified by SFG in addition to the Exterminators’ GHG Inventory prior to awarding its certification.
