Fadna Tea, a leading manufacturer in the Functional Tea category, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The main objective of signing this MOU was to provide mutual economic and social benefits to the local communities through mutual participation between the private sector and the public sector. The MOU provides an opportunity for the university to commercialise its research inventions and market them partnering with Fadna.
Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. P.G.C.S. Bowatte and Fadna Managing Director Chamendra Somatunga were present at the event together with the university staff and representatives of Fadna.
Speaking on the occasion, Chamendra Somatunga stated, “The constant efforts made by Fadna to develop the market in partnership with local universities are a timely and an effective step. Plans are underway to implement a number of such projects in collaboration with various state universities in Sri Lanka, which will make a significant contribution to the economy. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe in making a change in the lives of our communities while empowering them to face all challenges they encounter.”
