Former Controller General of Immigration and Emigration M.N. Ranasinghe, who was appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Education last week, thanked multiple stakeholders for their support during his successful tenure.
Following is his statement.
M.N. Ranasinghe |
Having served five rewarding yet challenging years of my career as the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, I have now assumed duties as the Secretary to the Ministry of Education with effect from 1 April. As I move out, I would be failing in my duty if I do not express my deep sense of gratitude to all those who have mattered to me in numerous ways during my tenure in office.
I wish to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to all past and present Ministers and Secretaries to the Ministry under which the Department of Immigration and Emigration served the nation for their guidance and direction. I specially thank the government officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Finance and the Department of National Planning for the support they rendered in delivering the mandate of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
Similarly, I extend my deep appreciation to the Colombo-based Ambassadors, High Commissioners, staff of Diplomatic Missions and international organisations in Sri Lanka for their assistance to and cooperation with the Department. I am also thankful to the heads of other agencies operating in the border environment and their staff for the support extended towards advancing Sri Lanka border management outcomes.
Finally, I am indebted to my fellow colleagues at the Department of Immigration and Emigration – both current and former – whose hard work, dedication, support and cooperation were instrumental for us to be one of the most innovative public sector service delivery organisations in the country.
Moving forward, I wish all the very best for the Department under new leadership and request your fullest support and cooperation to the incoming Controller General.
