Global Seafoods Sri Lanka achieves ISO 14001:2015 Certification

Global Sea Foods Ltd. is the first and only seafood company in Sri Lanka to achieve the ISO 14001:2015 certification. This proves Global Sea Foods is operating in accordance with best environmental management practices. 

As a seafood processing company, the management and all of its employees promote efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of its business activities in order to efficiently use marine and other related resources and provide safe and reliable seafood products.

1SO 14001:2015 recognises the standards throughout our entire operations, helps continually to reduce its environment impact. ISO 14001:2105 will contribute towards the sustainable development of its seafood activities.

The world is in amidst of climatic conditions crisis, some companies worldwide utilise 36% of energy consumption and around 40% CO2 emissions. The global economy is losing due to slower improvement of energy efficiency. Worldwide, everything the companies do impacts the community and the environment, especially in energy consumption, water usage and hazardous waste generation. Global Sea Foods urges all companies to look into the possibilities of obtaining the ISO 14001:2015 certification, thus taking care of the planet.

At Global Sea Foods, the certification process involved analysing internal procedures against the ISO standards, identifying the gaps between the current procedures and the ISO requirements and implementing the required actions to diminish these gaps. This also included extensive training and involvement of the plant personnel.

GSF believes environmental sustainability is an essential element in corporate social responsibility and this ISO 14001:2015 certification has become apparent as one of the key drivers of competitiveness.

It said it would continue to promote environmental conservation activities under its environmental management system.

Global Sea Food said it was proud of this achievement which is an addition to the basket of numerous quality accredited certificates of the company: ISO 22000, BRC ‘A’ Grade, IFS ‘Highest Level,’ Friend of the Sea, Dolphin Safe, SA 8000, COVID 19 Safety management system certification and Costco, Cedex and Smita approved company.
