Govt. holds “Donor Coordination” meeting with development partners

State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe chairs the meeting with development partners yesterday

 

The Government yesterday held a ‘Donor Coordination’ meeting with all development partners.

Speaking at the event, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said that if the economic reforms are continued with proper financial discipline, then Sri Lanka would achieve a strong economic foundation for the future. “The Government has identified the importance of coordination between the Government and the Development partners. Therefore, the ‘Coordination Platform’ has been established between the Ministry of Finance and the Development Partners,” Semasinghe said adding it aims to identify areas where new grants/bridging finance may be required

The State Minister expressed gratitude to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other development partners who assisted Sri Lanka to secure the $ 2.9 billion worth 4 year Extended Fund Facility. The development partners congratulated Sri Lanka on receiving the IMF assistance and assured that with reforms Sri Lanka could emerge as a strong economy in the future. Further, they assured continuous support for Sri Lanka in gaining its economic strength back.
