Govt. suspends ethanol imports

• Decision due to sufficient production of ethanol locally

The Government has decided to suspend all imports of ethanol, the Finance Ministry said yesterday as there are sufficient stocks being produced within the country.

Accordingly Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, in his capacity as the Finance Minister, has ordered to stop all imports of ethanol with effect from 1 January, the statement issued by the Finance Ministry said yesterday.
