International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) President Asmâa Resmouki, who was in Sri Lanka on an invitation extended to her by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), held high-level discussions with a top Government minister and officials last week.
During her stay in Colombo, Resmouki, who heads the global organisation for the accounting profession, held discussions with State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, as well as with Treasury Secretary K.M. Mahinda Siriwardana, and Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
She was accompanied by CA Sri Lanka President Sanjaya Bandara, Vice President Heshana Kuruppu, and acting Chief Executive Officer Lakmali Priyangika.
The meetings centred on critical matters pertaining to the financial and accounting landscape, with a focus on strengthening the profession and its role in driving economic resilience and sustainability in Sri Lanka.
Central Bank’s Deputy Governors K.M.A.N. Daulagala, T.M.J.Y.P. Fernando, and Senior Accountant Lasanthi Sirimanne also joined the meeting at the bank.
