Industries Minister visits Indonesia

Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa undertook an official visit to Indonesia to participate in the 2nd Regional Conference on the Industrial Development (RCID) which was held on 10-11 November in Jakarta.

During the conference, the Minister made a special speech under the theme ‘Industry 4.0 for economic recovery after COVID-19 pandemic’ in accordance with Sri Lanka’s experience.

On the sidelines of the conference Weerawansa had bilateral discussions with the Minister of Industries of the Republic of Indonesia Agus Gumiwang Kartasamista and discussed means of further enhancing cooperation in the industrial sectors of the two countries. 

Minister Weerawansa extended an invitation to Minister Kartasamista to participate in the Industrial Exhibition to be held in January 2022 in Sri Lanka.

Weerawansa also had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Industries of Bangladesh Nurul Majid Mahamud Humayan on the sidelines of the RCID and discussed cooperation between the two countries in the industrial sector.

The Minister was accompanied by Additional Secretary (Policy) of the Ministry of Industry M.G.P. Nimal Mahesh, Industrial Development Board Chairman Upasena Dissanayake and First Secretary of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta Dilini Jayawardhana.
