A team of 25 leading investors from Japan met with Ports, Shipping and Aviation Ministry officials, including Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, on 17 July.
During the meeting at the Ministry’s Auditorium, they discussed current investment and entrepreneurship opportunities in Sri Lanka’s maritime and aviation sectors. The Japanese investors expressed interest in introducing Japan’s latest technology for training programs in these fields. They expressed confidence that the skills and potential of Sri Lankan youth in modern technology could be developed through its successful implementation.
Minister de Silva highlighted that Sri Lanka’s internal airports and ports offer suitable locations for initiating industries and training projects related to aviation and shipping. He emphasised that priority should be given to Sri Lankan youth for the employment opportunities that will arise.
Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka – Mizukoshi Hideki, along with Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Secretary K.D.S. Ruwanchandra, and officials from the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. also participated at the discussion.
