Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs Minister John Amaratunga yesterday said he was highly disappointed with the National Security Council (NSC) for withholding information which led to a mass loss of lives on Easter Sunday.
“I am deeply saddened that NSC did not alerted me of any such threats to Churches or tourist destinations. If they informed in advance I would have informed Cardinal to cancel all Easter masses and taken all steps to prevent such massacre,” he told journalists at Temple Trees yesterday.
When asked why he didn’t attend any of the main masses in the country, Amaratunga said that he was attending the Easter mass in Madhu Church in Mannar and rushed to Colombo after hearing of the deadly attacks.
