Kanchana calls on CEB unions to submit proposals for restructuring

  • Says refinery operations will resume this week

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has called on Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) unions to submit proposals for the proposed restructuring of the organisation.

Taking to Twitter, Minister Wijesekera announced that he held discussions with CEB Engineers’ Union and other union representatives on Tuesday.

He also said that they discussed renewable energy plans, increasing efficiency, utilising existing staff instead of outsourced services.

Separately, the Minister also said that Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) hopes to commence Sapugaskanda refinery operations this week to operate without any interruptions and a continuous supply of crude oil.

These remarks were made when he met with the CPC Commercial Management and refinery officials yesterday to discuss the cargo plans for September to December as well as refinery operations.
