Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera announced that members and officials of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) reforms committee and the reforms secretariat convened delved into the amendments and proposals received from stakeholders and political parties concerning the new Electricity Bill.
Taking to ‘X’ yesterday, he said a consensus was reached on Wednesday to integrate some of the proposed amendments with the support of the Legal Draftsman’s office.
Additionally, the committee addressed discrepancies in the Sinhala version, aiming for clarity and precision. He said the corrected version of the Electricity Bill is set to be tabled in Parliament for approval. “The time frame for presenting the Bill in Parliament and implementing the reforms was also discussed and finalised,” Wijesekera added.
