Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad met with the Deputy Minister of Investment for International Relations of Saudi Arabia and Deputy CEO of the Saudi Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA), Sara Al-Sayed and briefed her on the investment opportunities available in the Port City Colombo.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad elaborated on investment opportunities readily available in Sri Lanka in sectors such as agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, ICT, pharmaceutical sector and invited Saudi investors to explore such expanding lucrative investment opportunities for win-win benefits for both countries.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also handed over the details of a wide range of business investment opportunities and incentives available in the Port City Colombo which is a multi-service special economic zone (SEZ) designed with state-of-the-art infrastructure, leveraging strategic international connections by land, sea, and air routes. Both sides agreed to pursue the discussions further and take steps toward a future course of action in this regard.
Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia recently signed an MoU for promoting direct investments and to improve the investment environments of both countries through policy and legal reforms.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister / Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh, Mohamed Anas and First Secretary (Trade) Tashma Vithanawasam.
