Litro Gas Lanka Ltd., Sri Lanka’s leading LP Gas provider, recently showcased its pivotal role in powering the country’s ceramics and glass industries during a technical session at the 18th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Ceramics and Glass Council (SLCGC), held recently at The Kingsbury Colombo.

The technical session, sponsored by Litro Gas, focused on pressing topics of energy efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within these vital sectors. Litro’s collaborative approach underlines its long-standing commitment to ensuring uninterrupted energy supply and supporting the growth of energy-intensive industries, especially during periods of economic and logistical challenges.

The AGM also marked the appointment of Aravinda Perera as President for the 2024/2025 term, bringing a wealth of experience and vision to the role.

Pune Gas India and Lanka Gastech Chairman Jaisinh Sampat – a first-generation entrepreneur in the industry, emphasised the importance of energy conservation for maintaining future competitiveness. He highlighted trends in LP Gas usage, stressing the shift toward more sustainable energy practices to drive long-term industry success. Over the years, the ceramics and glass sector has emerged as a key contributor to Sri Lanka’s export earnings, consistently maintaining a steady presence in global markets despite economic challenges. These industries have played a significant role in contributing to the nation’s GDP, accounting for approximately 2-3% of Sri Lanka’s total merchandise exports over the last decade. The sector’s resilience has been supported by reliable energy supply during challenging times, with Litro Gas being instrumental in stabilising production operations during the recent financial crisis. This stability allowed manufacturers to sustain exports and fulfil international demand.

“Litro has always given priority to industries, especially the ceramic and glass sectors, as they are key contributors to the national economy,” said Litro Gas Lanka CEO-Chairman Muditha Pieris. “As a national LPG provider, we ensure consistent supply and offer technical consultations to support uninterrupted production and growth.”

As Sri Lanka’s foremost energy provider, Litro’s involvement in the event underscores their deep commitment to supporting large-scale industries while leading the charge towards innovative and sustainable energy solutions. By ensuring a continuous supply of LP Gas, Litro has enabled the ceramics and glass sectors to remain competitive globally and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic recovery.

The technical session also explored the future of energy usage within the industry, with discussions centred on long-term trends and emerging technologies. Litro Gas Lanka, with its robust network and extensive industry partnerships, is well-positioned to continue supporting businesses through resilient supply chains and cutting-edge energy management strategies.

Litro’s partnership with the Sri Lanka Ceramics and Glass Council is yet another testament to the company’s vision of powering progress across industries, reaffirming their status as the backbone of Sri Lanka’s energy sector.
