Malik holds discussions with Minister of Oil and Gas of Oman

Minister of Oil and Gas of the Sultanate of Oman Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al -Rumhy called on Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama at the ministry on 25 March. 

He was accompanied by Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Colombo Al-Sheikh Jumah Hamdan Hassan Al-Shehhi, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Sultanate of Oman K. Pathmanathan and Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co. CEO Musab bin Abdullah Al-Mahrooqi.

During the discussions held regarding the oil refinery project, Minister Malik Samarawickrama proposed that the oil refinery be developed in several phases with the intention of establishing petrochemical industries.  The Minister of Oil and Gas of the Sultanate of Oman invited a team from Sri Lanka to visit Oman during the second half of April this year, to study and share their experiences of refineries and other related operations. 

Those present at the discussions were Minister of Highways, Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development Kabir Hashim, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons, Cooperative Development and Vocational Training and Skills Development Rishad Bathiudeen, Deputy Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Anoma Gamage, Deputy Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Nalin Bandara, Secretary to the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade S.T. Kodikara, Secretary to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development Sunil Hettiarachchi, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Chairman G.S. Withanage, and Board of Investment Director General Champika Malalgoda.
