Top professional Manil Jayesinghe has been appointed to the Board of Ceylon Hospitals (Durdans) as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 November 2023.
Jayesinghe is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), fellow member of the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and a member of The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
He has over 41 years of Advisory and Industry experience across key sectors in Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan. He was the Country Managing Partner of Ernst and Young Sri Lanka and Maldives from 2021-2023, Head of Assurance Practice in Sri Lanka, and the Profession Practice Director of Sri Lanka, from 2003-2023. He was a key resource in Banks, Financial and Insurance Services of Ernst and Young, Sri Lanka with experience in financial instruments. Counting over 40 years of extensive commercial experience in auditing banks, financial and insurance entities and was the Partner in Charge of the Banking, Financial and Insurance Services practice of the Sri Lanka firm. He has extensive experience in all other industries including manufacturing, retail, hospitality, wholesale business and telecommunications. He also has performed valuation of businesses and strategic plans for financial institutions. He was the Head of the IFRS/SLAS Desk in Sri Lanka, reporting to the Area IFRS Desk based in Hong Kong.
Jayesinghe is a resource person for the Central Bank Training Centre and has conducted many training sessions on accounting; IFRS and Basel. He was the lead engagement partner of companies which were subcontracted to EY by the Auditor General of Sri Lanka. He is the immediate past president of the Institute of Chartered accountants of Sri Lanka and has served as a Council member of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, board member of the CIMA Sri Lanka board, member of the International Accounting Educations Board of the IFAC and a council member of the Moratuwa University. At present, he is serving as a Council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Statutory Accounting Standards Committee, Member of the Statutory Auditing Standards Committee and serves in many other committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is the Chairman of the Accounting Standards Committee of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), Member of the Board of Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board, Council member of CMA Sri Lanka, Consultant to the Audit Committees of listed companies, and Member of Commission of Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.
