Mayooran Sinnathurai
Sri Lanka born Australian resident Mayooran Sinnathurai, a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) in a distinguished career spanning over three decades in which he also served in Botswana and New Zealand was recently presented the “Achievement Award 2023” for his Leadership in Government by the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). The award covered professional Chartered Accountants in Australia.
He graduated from the Jaffna University in 1995 with a degree in Business Administration and secured a First Class in becoming an Attorney at Law and Notary Public at the Law College the same year before migrating. He is also a Fellow of Certified Practicing Accountants Australia.
In making the award mention was made of his role in initiating an “ACT Governance Forum”, as a platform for educating professionals on governance. He also mentored over 20 migrants under the Government’s “Work Experience Support program,” the success of which is a testament to his commitment to creating inclusive pathways for such people through diversity.
As ACT Government senior Director of Corporate Assurance and Risk Management, a position he has held for many years, he continues to provide strong leadership by example and initiative.
The citation at the awards ceremony said: “Your impact on the accounting profession and the broader ACT Government community is both significant and inspiring.”
Mayooran lives with his wife Geetha and two children in Canberra.
