3Finance professional Melwin Perera has been appointed to the Board of Millennium Housing Developers PLC as a Non-Executive Independent Director.

He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Uditha Palihakkara, who is over 70 years of age.

Perera is a distinguished finance professional with over 25 years of experience across multiple industries. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA), an Associate Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (ACCA), a Fellow Member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA), and a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (FMAAT). Additionally, he holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

Throughout his career, Perera has developed a comprehensive skill set in corporate management, finance, treasury management, taxation, and business advisory services. His extensive career includes a decade-long tenure as Head of Finance at Stafford Motor Co. Ltd., where he oversaw finance operations for the company and its subsidiaries. Prior to this, he held key roles within the John Keells Group, managing the finance functions for Keells Supermarkets and overseeing the Keells Customer Loyalty Program under Jaykay Marketing Services Ltd. and Nexus Networks Ltd. Additionally, he led the Finance Division of the listed company Keells Food Products PLC.

His experience spans seven years at Ernst & Young for Audit and Assurance Services, where he conducted a wide range of audits, including external, internal, management, and special-purpose audits across diverse sectors. His audit expertise extends to industries such as hospitality, manufacturing, plantations, information technology, national airlines, catering, and various service sectors.

In addition, for the past 15 years, he has served as a member of the Review Panel for the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB).

In addition to his corporate roles, Perera has dedicated the past several years to advising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through a program conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Currently, he serves as the Managing Partner at Mel-Bern Chartered Accountants, Chief Consultant at ACCO Consultants, and Executive Director of Trading Circle International Ltd.

His leadership and expertise continue to contribute significantly to the development and enhancement of the accounting and finance profession in Sri Lanka.

With the latest changes, the Board of Directors of Millennium Housing Developers comprises Chairman U. Harshith Dharmadasa, K.C.C. Perera, G. De Zoysa, J. Rudra, S. Srilal, and L.M.A. Perera.
