The MoU aims to increase the reach of the European Chamber in its efforts to promote bilateral trade relations between Sri Lanka and the Nordic countries. Sri Lanka-Nordic Business Council Immediate Past President Bobby Jordan Hansen said that the signing of the MoU was “a big step forward” in promoting trade and tourism between Sri Lanka and the Nordic countries which have a high per capita income. Hansen reflected that tourists from Nordic countries generally spend more than tourists from other countries, thus bringing greater revenue for the economy. She anticipated wider exposure to the Nordic market and enhanced business ‘match-making’ opportunities as a result of the MoU. Her message to women entrepreneurs was, “persevere when times are tough and never give up!”
