The manufacturers of N-Joy yesterday in a statement reassured customers that food safety is priority. The statement follows the Consumer Affairs Authority last week recalling the product from the market owing to concerns of human safety.
The full statement is as follows:
N-Joy, a leader in the coconut oil market in Sri Lanka has been available for almost 20 years. The product is a 100% natural creation which does not go through any chemical refining process. It is the only one of 2 white coconut oils available to consumers in Sri Lanka, manufactured to stringent food safety and quality control standards.
As responsible corporate citizens of this Country and in the interest of public safety, we have commenced an immediate recall of the product. The trust of our customers and other stakeholders is of paramount importance to us.
We would like to assure our customers and other stakeholders of our commitment to getting to the bottom of this isolated incident and offer our complete co-operation to the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA).
As a duty-bound and respected company, operating in Sri Lanka for over 100 years, pioneering coconut oil manufacture in this Country since 1920s and having won awards and accolades over the years for excellence in manufacture of coconut oil, this incident is of prime concern to us.
