The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka successfully concluded the session on “Bilateral Trade and Investment between Sri Lanka and Maldives” on 18 May 2023 at the National Chamber Auditorium.
The High Commissioner of Maldives Ali Faiz graced the event as the keynote speaker and he was assisted by Deputy High Commissioner Fathimath Ghina and High Commission Colombo First Secretary Hussain Mazin
The event was virtually attended by Ministry of Economic Development Maldives Investor Relations Executive Uzma Abdul Latheef and made a special presentation on the bilateral trade opportunities available in Maldives.
Other dignitaries who connected online were, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Economic Cooperation Department Secretary Dr. Hussain Niyaaz and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka, Economic Affairs Director General Chandana Weerasena.
National Chamber President Deepal Nelson with his opening remarks welcomed the Maldives High Commissioner, other diplomatic officials, Ministry of Economic Development in Maldives and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives officials. Special invitees attended representing Export Development Board (EDB), Department of Commerce (DOC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka and the media entities.
Valuable information on trade, investment and opportunities for export/import were discussed. The participants were able to freely interact with the High Commissioner and his officials and discuss issues with regard to trade and investments in Maldives.
National Chamber is planning to conduct follow up B2B session with the intention of developing business between the two countries.
