Child safety is one of the main priorities in parenting. Most parents are used to believing school transportation services as a safer mode of transportation. But increased prevalence of road traffic accidents, social violence and child abuse nowadays creates an uncertainty in parents’ minds on whether the child has reached the school and returned home safe and on time.
Being a parent, that uncertainty is an added stress to their busy daily routines. And then they tend to make calls to the school van driver adding an unintentional threat upon their child’s safety. On the other hand, once both parents are employed, they lack time and access to refer the status of the child’s school travel.
MyChild.lk is the solution developed by Adeona Technologies Ltd., to address these concerns pertaining to school transportation.
All Island Inter District School Children Transportation Association has joined hands with Adeona Technologies Ltd., to provide MyChild.lk solution to their school vans.
Services provided by MyChild.lk include: Parents can find a quality school van service for their children based on pickup location and school; Parent will be informed when the school van is closer to the pickup location; Parent will be informed when the child gets in and out from the school van; Realtime monitoring of school van’s route and presence of their children in the school van; and Emergency messages from school van to parents. (e.g. delays due to vehicle breakdown).
In explaining how MyChild.lk ensures the child’s safety, the spokesman for the start up said one of the main concerns of school van drivers while driving is regular calls from parents regarding child’s presence, delays and location. This causes an extra risk of road traffic accidents as well as fining for school van drivers by the police. MyChild.lk enables real time monitoring and notifications, minimising the need of contacting the van driver. Parents can find exact location and time of their children getting in and out from the school van.
If the child’s school van is registered with MyChild.lk then the parent can create a profile in http://mychild.lk and collect the MyChild.lk key tag from the vehicle owner and if the child’s school van isn’t registered with MyChild.lk then the parent can email vehicle owners contact details to [email protected].
