Orit Apparels emerges runners-up at National Business Excellence Awards

Sri Lanka’s number one denim specialist Orit Apparels Lanka Ltd., secured the award for runners-up in the Manufacturing – Apparel, Textile and Leather Products category at the National Business Excellence Awards ceremony organised by the National Chamber of Commerce last week.

The company was recognised for its untiring efforts in business excellence and good governance displayed through its business operations in Sri Lanka and emerged to the top to receive this coveted accolade, which has gained high recognition and prestige among the business community as one of the most sought after awards. 

Orit Apparels, which is a fully owned subsidiary of the global apparel giant Indochine International, single-mindedly focusses on all things denim. Tastefully combining traditional techniques of denim manufacture with cutting-edge technology, Orit has earned the formidable position of being one of South Asia’s largest denim manufacturers possessing manufacturing capabilities par excellence with global standards. 

With a reputation for being ‘outstandingly innovative’ in the denim manufacturing arena, currently Orit is home to some of the world’s most premium brands which form its globally renowned portfolio of denims.

The company which began over two decades ago with has grown its business operations significantly and currently operates a streamlined network of eight manufacturing facilities spread across Sri Lanka providing direct employment to over 6,000 employees and touching the lives of many more Sri Lankan families through its business operations. The company which has robust plans, envisages to build on its outstanding capabilities and hope to continue to expand its operations in 2020.

The National Business Excellence Awards 2019 was held for the 16th consecutive year at the Hilton Colombo was attended by over one hundred nominees throughout the varied categories where the winners received accolades from the chamber at a glittering ceremony amid a distinguished gathering of leading organisations, top businessmen, Diplomatic missions and Senior Government officials. 

The nominees were scrutinised by a panel of highly qualified professionals from varied spheres of business and the excellence model and the evaluation scheme has benchmarked some of the world’s best known excellence models.
