The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, Export Development Board, and Sri Lanka Tea Board, has announced its participation in the 30th edition of Gulfood 2025. The exhibition was held from 17 to 20 February at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The 30th edition of Gulfood 2025 was a remarkable event, featuring 5,500 exhibitors, renowned chefs, the Food500 Summit, and an impressive $ 20 billion in trade deals.

Sri Lanka joined this global showcase with more than 80 exhibitors, presenting its finest products, including premium tea, spices, cinnamon, coffee, coconut-based products, fruits, and confectioneries. This event provided a unique opportunity to highlight Sri Lanka’s rich culinary heritage and innovative offerings in the international food market.

Positioned as a pivotal trade gateway between the East and West, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) offers Sri Lankan exporters a valuable opportunity to introduce non-traditional and value-added products in this esteemed exhibition. In this remarkable event, participants had opportunities to gain insights from industry experts on food manufacturing, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), and agribusiness, with a particular emphasis on fostering technological innovation.

In connection with Gulfood 2025, the Consulate General organised a networking session at the Consulate premises, enabling Sri Lankan exporters/participants to engage with business leaders, innovators, and prominent retailers and distributors, including SILA, SAFCO, and Barakath.

Addressing the gathering, Consul General Alexi Gunasekera highlighted that the event served as a valuable platform for exploring potential collaborations, further enhancing Sri Lanka’s presence in the global food market. He emphasised the importance of diversifying exports and expanding value-added products to achieve this year’s export target of $ 19 million. Participants can anticipate building relationships that may result in successful business ventures and strategic partnerships by actively engaging in events of this nature, he added.

The event was successfully held, serving a selection of Sri Lankan cuisine for all attendees catered by Sri Lankan restaurant Bamboo.
