Oxford College of Business recognised at UN Volunteers Country Awards

Oxford College of Business was recognised by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) for its outstanding volunteer contribution through citizen engagement within the Corporate Sector in Sri Lanka at the UNV50 Country Awards. 

Minister of Youth & Sports, Minister of Development Co-ordination and Monitoring and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development Namal Rajapaksa was the special invitee along with UN Resident Coordinator Hanaa Singer, UNDP Resident Representative Robert Juhkam and UNV Country Coordinator Sharmalee Jayasinghe. 

The awards ceremony took place in Colombo on 7 December at the Galle Face Hotel. The United Nations Volunteers Sri Lanka presented 50 awards to individuals and organisations that have contributed to the development efforts of the country through volunteerism. The event was held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the UNV, the 20th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers and the 10th anniversary of V-Awards and V-Force.  

“Among an overwhelming number of submissions, the Oxford College of Business’s contributions over the years to society through volunteerism is indeed noteworthy and is recognised,” the UNV statement said. 

Oxford College of Business Director/CEO Malindu Ranasinghe said: “I give all glory and honour to Christ alone for this great recognition. We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen out of all the great companies in Sri Lanka. We recognise the importance of volunteerism and the positive impact we can all have on the community as a cohesive unit. We will continue to advocate our commitment to volunteerism as we to make a difference in the lives of others. This recognition invites us to continue advancing with enthusiasm in our goal of being better for the world every day. Our hardworking and committed teams across the company are driven by a sustainability mindset. This further validates the approach we have adopted across the leadership of Oxford College of Business and is a reflection on our sustainability ethos and our commitment to the UNSDGs.”
