Pathfinder Foundation appoints Chinese scholar as Associate Director of Sri Lanka China Centre

The Pathfinder Foundation has appointed Dr. Zhao Ying, as Associate Director of its China-Sri Lanka Cooperation Studies Centre (CSLCSC). Dr. Ying is currently an academic at the School of Journalism and Communications of the China Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

Dr. Ying will function under the overall supervision of the Executive Director of the Pathfinder Foundation, and Director of the CSLCSC, Luxman Siriwardana. Dr. Ying holds a Bachelors degree in the Science of Law, a First-class Master’s degree in Civil and Commercial Law and a Ph.D in Commercial Law. She is currently following a post-doctoral program in Economic Law. Her teaching and research interests include Intellectual Property Law, Economic Law, Media law, Financial Law and Financial Security within the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka and the South West University of Political Science and Law have provided assistance and support for this initiative. Dr. Ying will provide valuable insight into the Chinese perspective for the activities of the Studies Centre. The CSLCSC was initially set up by the Pathfinder Foundation in October 2015 and is the only Sri-Lankan institution which exclusively focuses on the China-Sri Lanka relationship. The CSLCSC has a counterpart centre located at the prestigious Shanghai Institutes of International Relations in China.
