Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera conducted a comprehensive progress review of the Lanka Coal Company at the Ministry premises on Wednesday.
Taking to ‘X’ he said the meeting addressed crucial aspects of coal procurement and supply for the upcoming year.
Key discussions and assessments included an evaluation of existing coal stocks at the Norochcholai power plant, strategising the coal cargo plan for the 2023-24 season, examining the financial requisites for coal acquisition, and deliberating on both spot and term tenders that have been floated.
In addition, he noted that there was a focused emphasis on enhancing coordination between the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Lanka Coal Company.
The meeting was attended by Power and Energy State Ministers D.V. Chanaka and Indika Anuruddha along with high-ranking officials representing the LCC, the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Power and Energy Ministry.
