The Colombo Rubber Traders’ Association (CRTA) this week extended its heartfelt congratulations to the National People’s Power (NPP) on their recent victory and welcomed Samantha Vidyarathna as the newly appointed Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure.
CRTA Chairman Harin de Silva in a statement, expressed his confidence in the Minister’s ability to steer the plantation sector toward a prosperous future.
“The CRTA is committed to supporting the Government’s initiatives under Minister Vidyarathna’s leadership to address the challenges faced by the natural rubber industry. Together, we aim to enhance sustainability, improve livelihoods, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s position in the global market,” de Silva said.
He emphasised the CRTA’s readiness to collaborate with the Ministry in revitalising the plantation sector and promoting exports through innovative and sustainable practices. “The CRTA congratulates Samantha Vidyarathna once again and looks forward to a productive partnership in advancing Sri Lanka’s plantation industry,” de Silva added.
The CRTA, established in 1918, serves as the apex body of the natural rubber industry, representing stakeholders such as producers, buyers, brokers, and smallholders. The association has a rich history of conducting Sri Lanka’s rubber auctions since 1910 and actively participates in policymaking forums to advocate for the industry’s growth and development.
