S-lon Lanka Ltd. was recently recognised with the accreditation from the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) against ISO 17025 standards for plastic pipe testing for its Mechanical Quality Assurance (QA) Laboratory.
Continuing its streak of industry firsts, the S-lon QA Laboratory is the first and only laboratory in Sri Lanka to receive such an accreditation for plastic pipes which recognises the laboratory’s capability to meet international standards for testing. The Capital Maharaja Group, Group Director/COO S.C. Weerasekara commenting on this latest achievement, stated, “For 65 years we have thrived by offering products of the highest quality to our customers, in line with our corporate ethos of not offering any products to the market unless they can be consumed by our own family and friends. We believe that offering high quality products with unparalleled customer service will turn customers into brand evangelists and we cherish the trust placed in us for many years.”
“This achievement is a testament to our corporate ethos and to the high standards we have maintained throughout our journey. This accreditation not only allows us to improve our offering, but also provides an opportunity for other suppliers to enhance their products and thereby raise the quality standards of the overall industry as well. Backed by the market leadership, the expert knowledge within the company, and the purpose of building and sustaining impactful relationships with all stakeholders, we continue to extend our commitment to serving and providing the best products in the industry,” he further added.
The ISO 17025:2017 certification is an international standard that specifies general requirements for competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of laboratories. In lieu of the accreditation, S-lon Lanka Ltd., will now extend its testing services to external parties as well, supporting the other suppliers of the industry to offer safe, high-quality products to the export market by meeting international standards. Sri Lanka is known for its exportation of high-quality tea and cinnamon, and S-lon Lanka’s testing facilities can assist many other local industries and suppliers to push their products to reach high levels of exportability as well. The certification of the facility will enable even more exports into foreign markets which could greatly benefit the local economy through the generation of much needed foreign exchange.
