SAARC CCI congratulates President Gotabaya, extends support

SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI) President Ruwan Edirisinghe yesterday in a statement congratulated President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and extended its fullest support to achieve his vision for Sri Lanka. 

“The SAARC CCI presents its best compliments and felicitations to the newly elected seventh Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, marking a remarkable victory in the history of Sri Lankan elections,” the statement said. 

In his message, SAARC CCI President Ruwan Edirisinghe said, “We firmly believe that under his valiant leadership, Sri Lanka will embark on a new era of socioeconomic development.” 

“We also believe that President Rajapaksa’s victory would afford him an opportunity to achieve a rapid socioeconomic progress which the people of Sri Lanka have aspired over the past years,” he added. 

Furthermore, SAARC CCI strongly expects that the new President will have pragmatic and holistic policies to fasten the pace of economic development of Sri Lanka, and also desires President Rajapaksa to play a major role in accelerating the process of economic integration of SAARC and turn the vision of SAARC into reality.
