  • Says multiple complaints received from migrant workers on missing or damaged parcels
  • Lists 7 clearance firms registered with Dept. for public reference

Sri Lanka Customs had requested the public to select only agencies registered with the Customs Department to send their packages, after receiving multiple complaints from migrant workers about missing or damaged parcels.

“Investigations have revealed that parcels sent via agencies that are not registered with Sri Lanka Customs are reported as missing or have been damaged,” a statement issued by Sri Lanka Customs Director-General Sarath Nonis noted.

Against this backdrop, Sri Lanka Customs called on all citizens to select only agencies that are registered with the department when sending parcels from overseas, particularly the migrant workers.

The Department listed seven companies and their contact details for public references in sending gifts or parcels to Sri Lanka. These include; Ceylon Shipping Line UPB, Middle East Cargo International Ltd., Sri Lanka Ports Authority (NNR warehouse), Serendib Logistics Worldwide Ltd., Trico Maritime Ltd., and Transco International Cargo Services Ltd.
